“As someone who’s been studying sacred knowledge for almost 7 years and has many more years to come, this course has opened my eyes, shedding light on many areas that I have been lacking in during the past and has given me newfound methods to benefit even more from my student life.”
Adam Ayub

“This course reaffirmed my desire to study Islam formally. Having always considered studying, this course really encouraged me to make a start and instilled in me the desire to be a lifelong student. I am now in a position where I know how and why I should study as this course discussed how a student of knowledge should be, both with themselves and their teachers. I really appreciate the vision Whitethread Institute have and the teachers are great MashaAllah.”
Nasir Hussain

If you are a student of Islamic studies or aspire to be a student, this short course will provide you with the necessary etiquette, framework, intention, motivation and purpose for your study and enrich your journey.

The text that will be covered during this two-part program, is Qadi Badr al-Din Ibn Jama‘ah’s Etiquette of the Learner, extracted from his Tadhkirat al-Sami wa ’l-Mutakallim fi Adab al-‘Alim wa’l-Muta’allim (A Memorandum to the Listener and the Speaker on the Etiquette of the Scholar and the Learner). It provides a detailed guide for students of knowledge to the attitude and practice they should cultivate to bring their endeavour in line with the Qur’an and Sunnah. Whether they are embarking upon advanced and in-depth study of Islamic sciences, or simply seeking to enhance their understanding of the religion, this work will impress upon readers the indispensable but oft-forgotten principle: etiquette comes before seeking knowledge, thus enabling them to truly benefit from their studies.

Instructor The course will be delivered by Dr Mufti Abdur-Rahman Mangera, a teacher of the advanced religious sciences for over twenty years.

This course is carried out in 2 parts.
